Autism Society of America
Autism Society of America (ASA) is the
oldest and largest grassroots organization within the autism community,
with more than 200 chapters and over 50,000 members and supporters
nationwide. ASA is the leading source of education, information and
referral about autism and has been the leader in advocacy and legislation
initiatives for more than three decades.
The mission of the Autism Society of America is to
promote lifelong access and opportunity for all individuals within the
autism spectrum, and their families, to be fully participating, included
members of their community. Education, advocacy at state and federal
levels, active public awareness and the promotion of research form the
cornerstones of ASA's efforts to carry forth its mission.

Center for the
Study of Autism
The Center for the Study of Autism (CSA) is located in Salem,
Oregon. The Center provides information about autism to parents and
professionals, and conducts research on the efficacy of various
therapeutic interventions. Much of their research is in collaboration with
the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, California.

The Autism Research Institute (ARI)
A non-profit organization, established in 1967 by Dr.
Bernard Rimland author of the book "Infantile Autism: The Syndrome
and its Implications for a Neural Theory of Behavior." The ARI is
primarily devoted to conducting research, and disseminating the results of
research, on the causes of autism and on methods of preventing, diagnosing
and treating autism and other severe behavioral disorders of childhood.
They provide information based on research to parents and professionals
throughout the world.

Cure Autism Now
Cure Autism Now (CAN) is an organization of parents, clinicians and
leading scientists committed to accelerating the pace of biomedical
research in autism through raising money for research projects, education
and outreach. Founded by parents of children with autism in 1995, the
organization has grown from a kitchen-table effort to the largest provider
of support for autism research and resources in the country. The
organization's primary focus is to fund essential research through a
variety of programs designed to encourage innovative approaches toward
identifying the causes, prevention, treatment and a cure for autism and
related disorders.
Since its founding, Cure Autism Now has committed
over $20 million in research, the establishment and ongoing support of the
Autism Genetic Resource Exchange (AGRE), and numerous outreach and
awareness activities aimed at families, physicians, governmental officials
and the general public.

National Alliance for
Autism Research
The mission of the National Alliance for Autism Research is to fund,
promote and accelerate biomedical research and science-based approaches
that seek to determine the causes, prevention, effective treatments and,
ultimately, a cure for autism spectrum disorders. This mission includes
providing grants to researchers for innovative, new pilot studies;
mentoring fellowships to recruit new researchers to focus on autism; and
funding larger, collaborative research programs that have the potential to
yield major scientific advances in autism research.

The Association for Positive Behavior Support is an
international organization dedicated to the advancement of positive
behavior support. APBS strives to expand application of this approach with
children, adolescents, and adults with problem behavior.
The Association is made up of professionals, family members, trainers,
consumers, researchers, and administrators who are involved and interested
in PBS. APBS, as a unifying home for these individuals from various
communities and backgrounds, is a multidisciplinary association seeking
members from all fields with interests in behavior support.
