Relieving Stress and Anxiety
The life of a muslim is all about stress and anxiety and going through trials.
As believers we know we will be tested by Allah and sometimes we may feel like giving up but we must continue striving.
For those of us undergoing stress and anxiety or any of the other mental illnesses we must recognize the reality of Allah's promise that he does not place a burden on us greater than we can bear. This promise is found in Surah Baqarah in the Qur'an. When things get hard I always remember this reality and then recognize that while this trial is hard, I can bear it and I will survive with the help of Allah.
Can you offer any solutions or suggestions as to what you do when the going gets tough and despair seeps in?

I suffer from post partum depression and post partum anxiety. The only thing that gets me through is dua and supplications to remove stress and anxiety. There is one supplication that really helped me when I had an anxiety attack in the middle of labor. It's a long supplication that the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say. It's too long to type but it can be found in the dua book 'The Fortification of the Muslim Through Supplication and Prayer' in the section for duas to relieve stress and anxiety.
As salam alaikum wrahmatullah wa barakatu sister in islam.
Sis, one thing that reall works for me is to invoke Allah,
i keep repeating Ya Rabb, Ar Rahman Ar Rehem. Ya Rabb Ar Rahman Ar Rehem.
I have had some panic attacks while i was sleeping and woke up to feeling heavy chested and just screaming at the top of my lungs for someone to get in the room n help me to breath but the voice just wasnt coming out loud enough. That one time i really thought i was going to die, i was so scared for nights after to go to sleep that i started to change my habits at night, before sleeping i would cleqan of my bed from the shaytan and lie down making dhikr and thinking bout my actions for the day, i stopped sleeping in a normal bed and adopted to the sunnah of sleeping on a thin matress on the floor. I havent slept in a proper bed since except for when i traveled and had no alterative to go back to a proper bed, lets jst say i was happy to find my matress on the floor when i got back home..lol.
Duaa really helps alot too.
SubhanAllah wa Alhumdulillah.
